How to Start Practice on Distinction – Settings, Flagging & AI Explanations

How to Start Practice

In this article, you’ll learn how to begin a practice session, set your preferences, and review your performance on Distinction.

Step 1: Start Practice

From your dashboard, you can either select the Practice card or tap the Start Practice icon to begin.
 

Step 2: Select Preferences

After clicking Start Practice, you’ll be prompted to choose:
  1. Curriculum
  2. Department
  3. Course
Notes
You can scroll to find the course or use the search bar for quicker access.

Once selected, click Proceed to Next.


Step 3: Set Practice Options

  • Choose your mode: Timed Practice or No Time Limit.

  • Select the number of questions you want to practice (default is 50, but you can increase it).

  • When satisfied, tap Start Practice.


Step 4: Practicing

Here are a few key things to know while practicing:

  1. In learning mode, you can view answers instantly by tapping Show Solution.

  1. Tap Learn More (Interactive Chatbot) for a detailed explanation of the concept or question.
        

  1. The menu (top right) lets you quit the exam at any time.
  2. Use the right arrow to move to the next question.
  1. Use the Flag option to report a question if you believe it is incorrect, has wrong options, or needs fixing.

Step 5: Finish & Review

Once you’ve answered the last question, tap Finish Quiz to end your practice.


A summary of your performance will appear, including:

  1. Topic strengths and weaknesses
  2. Questions answered correctly and incorrectly
  3. Correct answers with explanations (tap the arrow to view)
